Derek Pawlak scored his second goal midway through the second period Tuesday night, and the Reedsburg co-op boys hockey team added another score in the third to complete a 3-1 win over visiting Waunakee and clinch the Badger North Conference championship.

Pawlak started the scoring at the 4 minute, 17 second mark of the first period to give the Cheavers (17-5-1, 8-1-0) an early lead, but Kurt Johnson answered to tie the game for Waunakee (11-11-1, 6-2-1).

Reedsburg earned the program’s seventh conference title.

Beaver Dam 3, Baraboo/Portage 2

Jay Kirschbaum scored an unassisted goal and had an assist as the Golden Beavers (10-12-1, 4-5 Badger North) beat the Thunderbirds (8-14, 4-5). Mike Wech and Jack Rath each scored goals for Baraboo/Portage. Blaiz Firari netted a goal and had an assist for Beaver Dam.

Madison Memorial 4, Janesville co-op 0

Jack Faulkner scored two goals in the third period — one of them shorthanded — as the host Spartans (12-8-3, 7-6-1 Big Eight) beat the Bluebirds (5-16, 4-8).

Owen Aldrich recorded 36 saves for Janesville. Parker Lindauer scored a shorthanded goal and had three assists for Memorial.

McFarland 3, Monona Grove 2

Jack McGinn scored the go-ahead goal halfway through the third period and the Spartans (11-10-2, 6-4-1 Badger South) held on to defeat the host Silver Eagles (6-15-1, 4-7-1) and retain the Waubesa Cup.

Conor Wilson and David Kenyon each scored a goal for McFarland.

Tanner Smith scored both goals for Monona Grove.

Stoughton 5, Monroe co-op 2

Nolan Stauffacher scored two goals to help the visiting Vikings (9-13-1, 6-6-0 Badger South) top the Cheesemakers (3-17-2, 1-9-1).

Brady Hlavacek and Ethan Ehert each scored a goal and had an assist.

Cade Janecke and Colton O’Connor each scored a goal for Monroe.

Oregon 9, Milton/Fort Atkinson 2

The visiting Panthers (16-7-0, 10-2-0 Badger South) held off the Red Hawks (3-15-2, 0-10-1).

Madison West 3, Kettle Moraine co-op 2

Adam Buencamino made 30 saves and junior Felix Jiang scored the go-ahead goal in the second period to lead the visiting Regents (16-6-2) over the Lakers (14-9-0).

West Bend co-op 4, Beloit Memorial 3

Ethan Coughlin scored the go-ahead goal at 2:13 of the third period as the host Ice Bears (15-7) took down the Purple Knights (8-15).

Casper Clark netted two goals for Beloit Memorial. Cam Sullivan and Eli Kopish added goals for West Bend.

Girls hockey

Sun Prairie co-op 4, Stoughton co-op 1

Colleen Milligan scored a pair of goals to help send the host Cougars (16-6-1, 8-2) past the Icebergs (6-15, 3-7).

Zephryn Jager and Amanda Bauer each had a goal for Sun Prairie.


Monona Grove 123.500, Janesville Parker 111.600

Payton Jenks-Recker won the vault and Tatem Capouch won the uneven bars as the visiting Silver Eagles edged the Vikings in a non-conference dual. Carson Richards won the balance beam and floor exercise disciples en route to winning the all-around crown for Janesville Parker.
